Our Studio
We're Ethan and Amanda—a husband and wife working from our studio in North Carolina. What we create connects us to the places we go and the people we share life with. What started as a simple desire to create became something deeper: a practice of slowing down, honoring the seasons we're in, and making work that holds meaning beyond itself. Whether it's time on the water or moments around the table, we craft objects that become part of your story.
Why Barn Swallow?
It's kind of funny—for a few years, barn swallows kept building their nests on our front porch. They left a big mess, but we really enjoyed having them around and looked forward to them returning every year. Getting to watch the young baby birds fly around in our front yard was an event, even if it meant being dive-bombed by mama bird.
One year we decided we'd rather not have the mess. We tried to make our porch less hospitable and put up wire mesh to keep them out. They were quite persistent and still figured out a way to make a nest and care for their young. We decided to take down the wire and let them be.
Some things are just worth the mess. Rhythms are worth protecting. And we feel that these barn swallows serve as a great metaphor for how we approach our work—being present in each season and serving others with work that brings people together.
